Overview
Mbavhalelo Nanor is a seasoned Registered Counsellor based in Albertville, Randburg, Gauteng, with over a decade of experience supporting mental health in both governmental and private settings. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Venda and a Master’s in Public Health (Epidemiology and Health Promotion) from the University of Pretoria. In 2024, she founded her own private counselling practice.
Her experience includes high-pressure roles in the South African Police Service (SAPS), where she provided trauma counselling, crisis intervention, debriefing, and organizational wellness services for over 10 years. She later joined the Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg Health Districts, delivering short-term therapy, community mental health education, and multi-disciplinary team training in primary healthcare clinics.
Mbavhalelo’s areas of expertise include trauma counselling, employee wellness, health promotion, suicide prevention, mental health screenings, support group facilitation, and counselling for bereaved families. She also tutors postgraduate students at the University of Pretoria in public health and research ethics.
Dedicated to public service and professional growth, she has completed certifications in HIV in the workplace, Monitoring & Evaluation, Clinical Ethics, and Good Clinical Practice. She is a member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
